Creature · ICARUS 3.0.26 · Week 248
Bright-winged but mean-tempered, Venomflies hover at head height with a jittery, aggressive energy. Their limbs are built for gripping bark and exposed roots, and their oversized red eyes track movement with unnerving precision. While not large enough to be apex predators, they more than make up for it with painful stings and fast, darting flight patterns.
Originally engineered as a pollinator species for wetland reclamation, Venomflies were meant to resist swampborne parasites and fungal rot. Post-collapse radiation surges interacting with exotic particulate triggered hyper-territorial behavior and an overproduction of neurotoxic venom. Their nests - usually clustered in hollowed logs or dense root tangles - are treated as sacred ground, and even minor vibrations can provoke a swarm response.
"One second the swamp's quiet, the next something green and angry is trying to jam its stinger in your visor. Step near a nest and you'll learn real fast what 'territorial' means."
Spawn weight is relative within a zone, not a percentage. Level bands are the zone's, not this creature's.
