Standing tall on wiry legs and crowned with bright plumage, the Stomper is an elegant creature. Its oversized talons and reinforced leg bones make it deceptively powerful, capable of breaking stone or skulls with a single strike. Normally, the Stomper wanders volcanic plains in small herds, pecking through ash for mineral-rich roots and insects. When threatened, though, it unleashes thunderous stomps that can crack stone.
Believed to have descended from Earth's ratites, the Stomper's physiology shows clear exotic-radiation mutation - the heat-resistant feathers and shock-dampening tendons aren't natural. Logs suggest these birds were originally introduced for pest control, but prolonged exposure to volatile radiation pockets in the volcanic zone made them far meaner - and much harder to cook.
