Creature · ICARUS 3.0.26 · Week 248
Lean and feral, Skulmutts prowl the irradiated wastes in packs, their skin thinned and split until the bone of their skulls gleams through like pale armor. Their movements are twitchy and erratic - fast when they strike, faster when they flee - and their howls have a warped, metallic timbre that echoes across dead valleys. They show signs of pack coordination and uncanny intelligence, often circling prey into open ground before attacking from multiple angles.
DNA traces suggest they're the remnants of early canine stock, released to help control small wildlife during the first colonization phase. But radiation and exotic exposure rewrote them - nervous systems overclocked, aggression amplified, bone plating erupting where fur once grew. They thrive in areas most life avoids, drinking from runoff that would kill anything else within hours.
"Them creepy lookin' things refuse to walk away if they see you're injured."
