Creature · ICARUS 3.0.26 · Week 248
Sandhorns are towering, slow-moving desert leviathans whose shells look more like eroded mesas than living armor. Their massive front horn is used primarily for shoving aside boulders and uprooting scrub, but it becomes a devastating weapon if provoked. Despite their size, Sandhorns are herbivores with calm dispositions - provided you don't startle them, corner them, or sneeze too loudly within a five-meter radius.
Introduced as part of early terraforming experiments, Sandhorns were meant to stabilize shifting dunes and aerate soil as they grazed. Exotics interacted with their mineral-rich diet, reinforcing their shells into near-geologic hardness. Over time this made them incredibly resilient but also incredibly stubborn, a combination that made Group 15 relocation efforts... brief.
"If you think a Sandhorn looks slow, wait until you make it mad."
