Creature · ICARUS 3.0.26 · Week 248
Gaseous Floaters are buoyant, sack-like organisms that drift slowly through geothermal regions, suspended by internal gas pockets. Their swollen bodies are laced with volatile compounds, and any sudden impact-particularly contact with the ground-causes an immediate explosive rupture. While they move passively, their unpredictable descent paths make them an ever-present environmental hazard.
These organisms are believed to have evolved around geothermal vents where toxic gases are abundant. Over time, their internal structures adapted to store and metabolize volatile compounds for buoyancy, with explosive decomposition becoming an unintended side effect. Exotic exposure appears minimal; their danger comes not from mutation, but from extreme environmental specialization.
"Nothin' but a sack of farts if you ask me. Go on, poke one and see what happens."
